Before photos

I love browsing through creative blogs. So many of them go to thrift stores and buy old "junk" but turn it into something beautiful, with just a little bit of elbow grease. On the way home from our camping trip last weekend, we drove past the local Salvation Army Thrift Store. We pulled over to see if we could find anything that I would like to buy and fix up. Wow! Let's just say a thrift store in Arkansas is quite the experience. We didn't buy anything and when we left Tony made me promise I would never take him back there again. Wimp :) jk. If you can get past the weird smell and sagging cleavage everywhere, it isn't THAT bad! It's a whole different crowd...one that made us appreciate Jeff Foxworthy's "you might be a redneck" comedy bit.
I went back to the store when Tony was at work and found a few things!

This shelf/basket thingy--Cost: $3.75
(I thought it would work well to put magazines in or maybe kid books? We'll see)
And this mirror--Cost: $5.00Both of these are really sturdy, just scratched up and dirty. I spent yesterday cleaning them up and working a little magic with spray paint. Now I just need a little bit of sandpaper to rough it up a bit.
Pictures to come of the finished products!

Great finds... I love thrift shopping. We had fun going to them in Kansas a couple of years ago and they are totally different there. But you can find some really cool stuff to redo and make your own.
