After Photos

I finished these last week but have been too lazy to upload pictures...until five minutes ago. Here are the after photos!
So I bought this mirror thinking I could put it above the desk in my room. After I spray painted it, it was resting on the dresser we just painted (see previous posts) and I realized the two pieces needed to be together.
I haven't put anything in this yet but I still love it.

I'm pretty happy with how these turned out. I don't think a baby will care how things look but it's fun for me to work on little projects for this room.

Before photos

I love browsing through creative blogs. So many of them go to thrift stores and buy old "junk" but turn it into something beautiful, with just a little bit of elbow grease. On the way home from our camping trip last weekend, we drove past the local Salvation Army Thrift Store. We pulled over to see if we could find anything that I would like to buy and fix up. Wow! Let's just say a thrift store in Arkansas is quite the experience. We didn't buy anything and when we left Tony made me promise I would never take him back there again. Wimp :) jk. If you can get past the weird smell and sagging cleavage everywhere, it isn't THAT bad! It's a whole different crowd...one that made us appreciate Jeff Foxworthy's "you might be a redneck" comedy bit.
I went back to the store when Tony was at work and found a few things!

This shelf/basket thingy--Cost: $3.75
(I thought it would work well to put magazines in or maybe kid books? We'll see)
And this mirror--Cost: $5.00Both of these are really sturdy, just scratched up and dirty. I spent yesterday cleaning them up and working a little magic with spray paint. Now I just need a little bit of sandpaper to rough it up a bit.
Pictures to come of the finished products!

Camping Trip!

We went camping this weekend and had so much fun!

Neither of us had been camping for quite some time so we really had a blast.

We made s'mores, tin foil dinners, stayed up playing card games...It was just a lot of fun!

New and Improved

When we got married, we were really lucky because we didn't have to buy ANY furniture. Tony had a bunch of furniture given to him by his grandparents. We bought our TV stand a few months ago and that has been the extent of furniture we've purchased. It really has been a great blessing.
We've had this dresser in our spare bedroom (about to be the baby's room), holding random towels and sheets.
(Do you like the many colors:))
I thought it would be a good idea to spend a little bit of money to re-do its look. It would be a lot cheaper to do that than to buy a matching dresser for the crib we want. So we bought paint stripper, cheap brushes and scrapers and got to work.
Under this black paint we found two different layers of paint! It took a bit of work to get it all off.

We finished the last touch ups yesterday! I am so happy with how it turned out!

We have a white crib picked out so I think this "new" dresser will look great with it!
We had a blast working on this together!

Project

Look at how cute these turned out!

(they're cuter up close because you can see the texture of the buttons and mats! So just imagine...)

I decided that I should probably start decorating around here. I enjoy browsing through stores and looking through magazines but I can't picture anything actually in MY house. I saw this cute idea on The Shabby Nest and thought I would try to do something similar.
Hobby lobby was having a 50% off sale on their frames and scrapbooking supplies (perfect!).
So I bought three frames, three pieces of blue scrapbook paper, cheap frame mats and star-shaped buttons. I covered the mats in the scrapbook paper and then super glued two buttons in the middle of the mats.

Put them in the frames and voila!
We hung these up today and I can't stop looking at them! I would've never thought to frame buttons, but it turned out so cute! This project cost me less than the price of two frames (at full price). So if you have bare walls...you should try this out!

BABY NEWS

WE ARE HAVING A.....

BOY!!!

(He's waving at you :))

We are so thrilled! This will be the first Gibson grandson so Tony is especially excited.

I was surprised at the amount of girl guesses we had! From the beginning I told my mom I thought this baby was a boy. Which surprised me because I always assumed I would have a girl first. Probably because I'm the oldest so I thought I'd have a girl too?

After the ultrasound we went to pick out our first baby outfit. I picked out the cutest newborn footie pajamas. It has frogs and caterpillars all over it and the feet are frogs. Oh my goodness. So cute.

I just can't believe how it has only been a day but this already seems more real.
Yay!!!

What's Your Guess?

Tomorrow we find out if this baby is a BOY or GIRL....

What do YOU think it will be????
