Ladies' Dinner Party

Friday night was my first dinner party.  It was fun to get together for something a little extra special.  I loved the little details in setting the table and getting everything ready!

The table

I love red and white and that's what's mainly in our kitchen.  From gifts to pieces I've picked up here and there, I have a nice little red & white dish collection going.  It was fun to put it all into one table.  No, dinner is not this fancy every night at our house....

To make things easy, I did the main dish/dessert and had guests bring other items.

Menu:
salad
green beans and carrots
french bread
chicken lasagna (recipe here)
old fashioned shortcakes with fresh whipped cream and strawberries

Not sure why I didn't ask people to look and smile at the camera...sorry guys :)

Proof that I was at my own party...I got this picture from a friend, thanks!

This might sound a little silly but playing hostess (or organizing anything) is one of my biggest fears!  I get so anxious and want everything to be perfect.  Is anyone else like this?  This helped me get out of my comfort zone and now I'm not quite sure why I've always been so afraid!  I'm looking forward to doing it again sometime. I'm now thinking up themes or excuses for other get-togethers... fondue night maybe?

It was fun to get together as friends!  Thanks to everyone who came!

Megan I just have to say that your party looked AMAZING. I wish that I would be brave enough to host a dinner party. I always think about hosting any kind of party, but I am afraid of having to entertain other people that people would be bored. Also, I don't know that I have enough friends that would come... haha
