Charlie's first "mommy haircut"

A friend used to cut Charlie's hair and did such a good job!  Unfortunately she moved and he has had his hair cut at a salon a few times since then.  The past two times his cut has been HORRIBLE.  After having to pay to have his hair redone, I decided if he was going to have a bad cut it might as well be from me---for free!  So last week I bought my own hair cut set and went to town.  I read the instructions and a tutorial on the internet while cutting his hair haha.

He has no idea what's about to happen

It was a little traumatic for him.  He was yelling, "my hair! my hair!  You're hurting me!" pretty much the entire time.  I gave him a sucker, like they do at the salon, and that was a nightmare.  Hair all over the sucker, stuck to his hands, face, everything.  The sucker had to go away and that only made things worse.

"Charlie please turn around and smile...you look so handsome!"

I however had a great time :)  Is his hair perfect?  No.  It's pretty much the same length all over (except for one almost bald spot in the back...I tried to touch him up while he was coloring.  Bad idea.)

"I'll let you hold the scissors if you smile..."

I have 3 years until kindergarten and by then I'll have it down!

Around these parts...

It has been a while since I've posted anything!  I feel like we have been really busy..  We have been busy with projects and having fun with friends.  All good things.

Here is an update on our family:

I started watching a friend's child while she goes to work.  Brooklyn comes and plays with us for a few hours twice a week.  The boys simply adore her and it's really cute watching her and Joey run around together.

 Brooklyn & Joey

It has been so hot that unless it's 8AM we are either inside or playing in water.  The boys love jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler underneath, going to the splash park or playing in the kiddie pool in the backyard.

Charlie & Ellie at the splash park

Lots and lots of brother time

These two are into wrestling right now.  Joey is a lot tougher than I thought!  In fact, he's usually the one starting it.  He's my little linebacker that runs and plows into so you have no choice but to wrestle with him.  It's all in fun of course. I have to step in when it gets too physical :)

Joey now has 6 teeth!  He has quite the goofy personality.  He likes to do whatever you tell him not to, but at a new accelerated speed, while laughing his head off.  He loves to have his teeth brushed and eat pancakes for breakfast.  Ah Joey...such a cutie.

Charlie loves to "pay games" (play games), tell secrets and have "pizes" (surprises).   He asks me for a surprise everyday.  He is very imaginative.  He's constantly fighting some "bad guy," driving a car or building something.  He is starting to say funny little things and it's hard not to laugh when he says something that surprises me. His new phrase is, "I'm busy."  Does he need to eat his vegetables?  He's "busy."  Does mom need a kiss?  He's "busy."  Charlie is "busy" for anything he doesn't want to do.

Both boys are major climbers.  They climb up the oven, the refrigerator, anything they can can!  One of these days we're going to have a broken bone!

Tony and I are slowly painting every room in our house, but that's for another post.  Tony is working on a big project at work and has been given a lot of responsibility.  I'm very proud of him!  I signed up for a Labor Day 10k so I'm starting to train again.  How is that 2 months ago I ran 13 miles and right now running 3 just about kills me?!

That's what has been happening around these parts!

Temple Trip

A while back, my sister in law sent us some family names that needed their temple work done.  Yesterday we did the temple work for some of those family members.  Teri also sent us a little information about the family which made them feel more real.  Thank you Teri for giving this opportunity!

This project has looked like this for the past 2 years.  I stitched these as family Christmas presents and by the time I got to mine I was stitched out.  8 hours in the car was a great time to pull it out and get it done once and for all!

Since we would have to be in the temple together, for the sealing, we needed to figure out what to do with the boys for the day.  Thankfully my friend Shannon volunteered to take them all day so we could go.  Thank you Shannon!

We completed the endowments & sealing for Robert and Margaret Gibson.  We had the paperwork for two of their sons, but were only able to seal one son to his parents since the other still needed his endowment.  This trip was our third trip of the year and since our family goal is to go four times, we'll be finishing this family's sealing on our next trip this year.

After the temple we headed over to lunch at The Cheesecake Factory.

Lunch at the Cheesecake Factory,  without the boys, no picking up dropped silverware, no song and dance to keep the littles happy while waiting for food....  This was very exciting.

It was great day.  Looking forward to our next trip!  I will need a new stitching project though because....TA DA!!!!....

This one is finally finished :)

Summer Mornings

Everyone morning is pretty much the same around here.  We have cheerios and yogurt for breakfast then head outside to play.

At 8:30 AM it's a balmy 80 degrees outside.  Our trampoline is in the shade so we jump while it's still cool.

Joey runs around the trampoline screaming and clapping.  Charlie shows me his "good guy" moves and kicks invisible bad guys all around.  They chase each other. Charlie jumps to knock Joey over, on purpose, and then he sits in time out by me.  After a pat on Joey's back and a "sorry" he gets to keep playing.

Kicking bad guys

Good guy underwear is cool

Today is Monday--laundry day.  Which means Charlie's good guy underwear are clean!  His Incredibles underwear are his favorite and he has one pair.  Naturally he is going to keep those uncovered as long as possible!

Happy Monday!

Date with Charlie

Charlie and I went on our first date this Saturday.  We were going to Charlie's first movie in the theater!

This is something we need to start doing regularly because he was over the moon excited. We left and  he gave Joey a big hug and kiss.  In the car he told me that Joe needed to "stay home" and he was "going out."  He's a big boy now so he gets to see movies and have "big treats."

We first went to the store to pick up a couple things and some movie treats.  Surprisingly this was the highlight of the night.  He was so excited to be walking next to me without a cart.  He was stomping around the store like he owned the place.  We had some time to kill so we played in the toy aisles.  He pushed every button, to every car possible.  I had to coax him to leave!

We met some friends at the theater and saw Brave.  I was a little worried about whether or not he would be content sitting in his seat, but he did pretty well.  He talked about the "big bears"and gave some pretty good impressions of them while we walked to the car.

He cried the entire ride home because he wanted to stay out.  I promised him we would do it again.  Maybe next time he and daddy get to go out!

Charlie is so special.  I'm so happy I get to be his mom/mommy/mama/mawddy :)
