Utah Trip

On the last day of March we flew to Utah.  Jack was coming home from his mission and we were going to meet him at the airport!  We were looking forward to this trip for months.  We loved every second with our families.  We miss them so much.

Highlights from our trip

Of course the biggest highlight was going to the airport to pick up Jack...
Jack served a full-time mission in the Maceio, Brasil mission.  Jack is a wonderful person.  He is incredibly thoughtful, hardworking and smart.  I'm glad he's my brother!
 Big hug from Charlie
 He's home!
 Jack meeting Joey.
Did you know that Joey was named after Jack?  They share the middle name of Garrett.
So happy he's home and alive!
He was really sick on his mission.  Good thing he has mom to take care of him now :)
Buddies-- Papa and Charlie at the airport

We prayed for Jack everyday on his mission.  I still find myself saying a prayer for him and then remembering he's home!

Girl's afternoon--my mom took me, my sisters and cousins out to lunch.  After lunch at Noodles & Co. we headed over to the fabulous Gourmandise bakery for european pastries and desserts.  We shared a bunch of macaroons and each picked out a pastry.  We ended the trip with pedicures, of course :)  Thanks mom for the treat!
 Girl's lunch!
picking out desserts with Laura, Brittany and Hailey.
I would like to think Hailey and I are the same height but I'm pretty sure she is taller than me now.  Hailey is a great sister.  She is so musically gifted and has a great sense of humor.  She also can rock short hair and really, who can do that?!
 pedicured feet :)

Easter Activities--Easter dinner, dying eggs, searching for baskets, eating way too much candy...

Nana put together the cutest baskets for the boys.  Thanks mom :)

celebrating Tony's birthday--Tony got a special birthday dinner with chocolate cake and ice cream.  Lucky guy!

 Tony's birthday dinner
As much as I miss my family, Tony is my home.
I'm happy wherever he is and I'm lucky to have him.
Gibson family day--we were able to meet up with our Gibson side of the family from Southern Utah.  It was great to see grandma and papa, sweet aunt Sandi, plus our fun cousins: Cambridge, Parker, Addison & Beckett. We met for lunch and spent the afternoon at Thanksgiving Point's Dinosaur museum.  Pictures from dinner that night...
Cambridge and Charlie
Grandma and Papa Gibson

 Me & Sandi
Uncle Tony and Beckett.
I wish we lived closer to our cousins!
Charlie and Beckett were becoming buds by the end of the night.

It was great seeing our Gibson family!

Being in my mom's kitchen.  There is something comforting about sitting at the counter helping or watching your mom cook.  My mom is such a great friend to me.  I love her so much.
One day Chloe taught Laura and I how to make roasted chicken with lemon, garlic and thyme--that Chloe...she's a sweetie and so talented!  I need her at my house :)

Shopping at the new City Creek Center and Trolley Square, lunch dates with old friends, playing at the park, going to the temple...
treats at Kneaders

The best part was spending time with our extended family.  It was so fun to watch our boys interact with everyone.

Brian & Laura--such a cute couple.
Laura is an angel and Brian is such a great friend.  He is so great at keeping in touch with me.
He's a great brother.
Grandpa with his grandsons
My boys adore their grandpa.  He is great at making people feel special and that is something I love about him.
My cousin Marcus and his family!  We love you Brittany and Johnny!
Though only 12, Trent was the best uncle while we were there.  Charlie lovingly referred to him as "guy" and followed him around.  Charlie still talks about playing with "guy."

Charlie talks about his time at "Nana and Papa's house" constantly.  That and "guy" and the "woof woof" (Laura and Brian's puppy Nya).

It was such a great trip.  In fact, I'm getting teary eyed just looking at all these pictures!  We had such a great time.  We love everyone so much and can't wait to be together again.

Crazy Life

Remember when I used to be really good at blogging?  These days I feel like I barely have time to come up for air.  I'm not that busy but life with two busy, talkative, curious, sometimes destructive, fast little boys is all I can handle.  Good thing kids come one at a time...most of the time :)

Here's at peek at our last couple of weeks...

Saturday morning at the Autism Awareness Walk--a really great cause.

Charlie got a balloon sword.  Boy was he in heaven!
 Playing at the mall

 eating ice cream cones
the boys making a mess together.
This time they pulled out all the kitchen towels, hot pads, napkins and rolled around in them.
Why do we buy toys?

The past few weeks have been full of chores, playing outside, going on walks, double ear infections, lunch dates, fevers, half marathon training (3 weeks left) and activity day stuff.  Life is good.

28 is GREAT

The love of my life turned 28 yesterday!
I felt bad we didn't have big plans, but we had just got back from our Utah vacation.  The first day back to normal routine is always a little chaotic.
I took the boys on a big grocery trip- we were out of EVERYTHING.  I was wanting to get some fun decorations and little things for the birthday dinner but I had reached the boys limit half way through our trip.  I'm learning that as a stay at home mom you learn how to make fun out of nothing at all.  We decorated the house with construction paper, yarn, ribbon...random things we had at home.

"Happy Birthday" sign up the walk way

Tony is the last person who would be upset that he didn't have a special birthday sign, but that's what makes this kind of stuff so fun.  I love making things special for him.

Charlie was so excited to give daddy his framed painting

Tony's requested his birthday dinner: baked cod, rice & roasted asparagus.  After dinner we had a special dessert and headed to the lake for a scavenger hunt for family night.

Check "goose" off the list...

and wildflowers...and pebbles...

throwing rocks into the water
and creek!
love his dark eyes

We hung out by the water for a while.  Took funny pictures that had us almost rolling on the floor (we were on rocks) and put the boys in the stroller for the walk back to the car.

Happy Birthday Tony!  We love you so very much.
