Joey 3 Months

My angel boy is 3 months old.  He is at such a fun stage in life with his laugh, smiles, reaching for toys...it's just so fun.  When I have him on my lap I can't help but close my eyes and smell his head, taking in all that baby goodness.  I may look crazy, but I know this stage goes by so fast, too fast really.

We call him: Joey, Joseph, button (by dad), angel boy (by mom), shhh (by Charlie)
He loves: baths, standing while we balance him, being read to, doing hand actions to the songs I sing with Charlie, being in the middle of the action, dancing, music and being swaddled.

Now that I have two babies to compare, it's amazing to see how each child comes with their own personality, even when they are so young.  Joey has a sweet & calm disposition about him.

He is such a joy in our lives!

Temple Trip

Yesterday we met our goal by attending the temple and making that 3 times in 2011.

In the past we've woken at 3 am, in the car by 4, stopped for breakfast, one of us goes in for a session, lunch, then the other goes in for a session, back in the car....by the time we get home it's dark out and time for bed!  This time we decided to drive to Oklahoma City the night before so it wasn't such a long day for the boys.  8+ hours on the road, in one day, is hard for little boys (and parents!).

Tony worked extra hours during the week so he was able to come home for lunch on Friday and  immediately leave for OKC.  We left right at nap time so Charlie & Joey were able to sleep a good chunk of the way.

It was fun to talk while both the boys slept, but of course they didn't sleep the whole way!  We would pull over when it was time for Joey to eat and Tony would play with Charlie.

We arrived at dinner time, checked into our hotel and headed off to find a place for dinner.  Later that night we went swimming.  Charlie had a blast in the pool!  Joey even went swimming for a bit, but I was worried the water was too cold so that was short lived, but he seemed to enjoy it for the small time he was in the water!

The next morning, we packed the kids up in the car and drove to the temple so I could make the first session. We took the back roads to avoid the toll roads that are all over Oklahoma and found out our directions were wrong. Since the area is flat we weren't able to see the golden Moroni until we were 2 blocks away. I barely made it in time, arriving 2 minutes before the session began. I ran in as fast as I could!  Since OKC temple has only 6 sessions each day, I did not want to wait for two hours before beginning our day at the temple!  The temple workers were so sweet and let me hurry and change so I could be in that first session.

Tony took the boys back to the hotel to have breakfast and check out.  They met me back at the temple after my session and we took some family pictures before Tony's session started.

While Tony was inside I took the boys to the store so we could browse the toy aisles and buy some snacks for the drive home.  Then we went back to the temple to be on the grounds for a while and wait for Tony.

After stopping for lunch we were home bound!  We stopped half way for ice cream cones and survived the last half hour by dancing to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and other songs on my ipod.

We were so happy to be at the temple together as a family.  It was such a wonderful day!

Stylin'

Charlie is into picking out his own clothes these days...

Outfits must include socks, rain boots, a hat and zipped up jacket.  He cracks me up!

(the "how" reference is to Peter Pan...we watch that a lot :)

On a final note, can you believe Joey will be 3 months old in a week?!  Charlie will be 2 years old next month.

Someone please slow down time!

Labor Day Weekend.

We had a GREAT Labor day weekend.  Tony went into the doctor Thursday afternoon and after taking his prescription for 24 hours he was feeling much better--just in time for the weekend.  Perfect timing, right?  I was so glad he was feeling better.

Over the weekend we....

had a date.  We just started a date night co-op with some friends in our ward.  (there are 4 families, including us.  Each couple rotates watching everyone's children one Friday night a month.  So everyone gets 3 Fridays a month to go on dates) Friday night was our first date night and we snuggled up watching Despicable Me with McFlurry's (have you tried the new Rolo Mcflurry?  Go get one right now if you haven't!)  We're looking forward to getting out of the house, just the two of us, more often!

Saturday Charlie helped me make pizza.  He loved sprinkling on the cheese and sneaking pieces of dough.  He was so proud when it was finished!  Tony laid blankets down in the family room and we had dinner on the floor while watching Mama Mia.
 Sweet, sweet Joey

Afterwards we looked for fireflies.  Charlie runs around the backyard with his arms stretched out in front of him.  Not sure if he understands what we're doing or if he's just copying, but it's cute.

Sunday we had dinner with friends and being at their house made me realize that Charlie needs some play weapons (they have boys as well). We're tired of getting whacked with spatulas, vacuum cleaner extension rods, and all the other household objects he uses as swords and guns.  They hurt!  Maybe if we had some play swords it wouldn't be as painful? :)

On Labor day we went on a family run and played at the park.  Our first time running together.  It was a lot of fun to go together. We went to one of our favorite places....

This place is great because at the end of the trail there's a playground so Charlie is able to get out and play after we're done.  Plus it's beautiful!

After a record breaking summer, we're finally having some cooler weather!  It is a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

It was a great labor day!

Last Week

.Last week was a rough one.  My dad left Monday and it was  hard to say goodbye.  Joey had his two month shots. Charlie learned how to opens doors and it has thrown off his sleeping routine. Oh and he got lipstick on the carpet.  Tony had super high fevers for 3 days that turned out to be strep throat.

We desperately needed to get OUT of the house and do something fun!  I took the boys to the park so we could recharge and have fun together.  It was wonderful.  These two are so sweet.
