Yesterday (and today) was a hot day and I think it's only an indicator of what is to come this summer. Well, of course it is an indicator. It is hot and humid in Arkansas! I'm just hoping it's not
even more hot and humid than it was last summer.
In the morning Charlie and I took off on our morning walk at our normal time. It was already 70 degrees and the air was getting thick. We got back a little after 9 and I was dripping with sweat. We hadn't even gone that far!
Definitely a day for the pool! I pulled out Charlie's pool that had been wadded up in a ball all year, thankfully it didn't have any holes in it. I spent an hour and a half trying to blow the thing up before I realized there was a little valve inside the blow hole you had to have open when blowing it up. The pool took only a few minutes to inflate after I figured that out!
After getting all our gear on: swimsuits, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, toys, my book, etc we finally got outside and started playing! It takes a lot of effort getting that started and after only ten minutes of playing Charlie wanted back inside.
Oh no, I was getting at least my prep time out there whether he liked it or not!
I brought out a popsicle and Charlie had a lot of fun eating that until he realized it was more fun to chase me around the backyard with it. I'm not sure if it's a boy or Messer thing but he is a huge tease. He would come up and get an inch away from my leg with his popsicle and when I would pull away he would laugh and laugh then come back for more, trying to touch my leg so I would shriek.
I shouldn't be surprised. The pranks at my house, growing up with brothers, could get pretty serious. The shower/bathroom wars got to the point where my brother Jack would bring a rope into the bathroom every time he took a shower. That way he could make sure the door stayed shut by tying the rope around the door knob and base of the toilet. Just because the door was locked didn't mean you were safe--locks could be picked with bobby pins, pens...a number of things if you got creative enough. I remember Brian chasing me all the way up our street with nothing but a towel around his waist after I had dumped a bunch of cold water on him in the shower. Those were good times! I don't think Tony has any idea who he's married to!
Besides lunch and naptime, we spent the whole day outside. It was awesome! Thank goodness for a fenced backyard-- I wouldn't want to scare the neighbors with my maternity swimsuit :)
